SLEEPING LION - STOP IT

A few months ago I was introduced to this Boston-based duo and we've quickly become good friends, as far as cross-country internet friendships go. Sleeping Lion is Nate Flaks (songwriting/vocals) and Noah Longworth McGuire (production/co-vocals) and their press release labels their sound as so-called "dorm soul" which is a fairly apt name considering the two met at Berklee College of Music and make emotionally drenched alternative pop-soul rich with youthful lyrical melodrama and forward-thinking electronic arrangements. A co-write with Flaks' recent ex Abbey Carey and guest vocals from Opia's Jacob Reske, this new tune "Stop It" was released last week via Majestic Casual, and it's a slow-burning story of heartache with an overarching feeling of hope for brighter new beginnings. Take a deep dive into this swirling electro-soul pool of feels y'all.

[PREMIERE] OPIA - YDU (BKAYE REMIX)

Things just keep getting better and better for our yung friend BKAYE. I gotta say .... this Cali producer has been one of the most exciting new kids on the block in 2016 - BKAYE keeps slaying all things and making all the right moves! Seriously tho, our next premiere of this new remix of 'YDU" by Opia is a five alarm fire!  With big future beats and viby vocals, this one has me poppin shoulders and throwin trap arms in the best way! OPIA - SHADOW DANCES (CHRISTOFI REMIX)

Gotta give a little shout-out to MOONZz who had her EP release show last night and it was sickkk. She's got a bright future ahead can't wait to see her ascent. While I was there I happened to run into Jacob and Cole from Opia and we ended up chatting for a minute. This remix from Christofi was already in my queue for a review, but it's weird how life sends you coincidences sometimes! So now I'm even more excited to support this cut which is already climbing its way up the Hype Machine chart. "Shadow Dances" is already a fire hit check out our review of the original here, but Christofi has added a real touch of brilliance to the tune, spicing it up and making it into even more of a dance floor ready jam. With smatterings of guitar, pumping synths, a deep kick and groovy bass all coming together below Opia's soulful falsetto vocals, what more could you want in a disco, electro pop gem! BUZZZMIX VOL. 28 - BRONZE WHALE

Summer is in full swing - which for some means chill evenings and lazy weekends relaxing by the pool. And for others (like me and my fam) it's time to party! With festival season currently peaking, not a weekend goes by that we're not seeing our socials blown up with FOMO over some festival we're not at this year! It's a brilliant time to be alive! Our next guest mix is all about that party, and our homies Bronze Whale have crushed this next installment of Buzzzmix Vol. 28. This Austin future bass duo has been a bit quiet the first 1/2 of this year - hunkering down to work on fresh jams - including a highly anticipated unreleased remix of "Slow Burn" by Crywolf - which you can only currently hear on this mix!  Bronze Whale wants all of us to get lit, it's 100 percent made for hot nights in the club where we can dance like crazy and even throw the occasional trap arm! Not gonna lie - Opia are fuckin' saucy! This new east coast duo has dropped some seriously sexy electro R&B tracks that has made industry stand up and take notice. They may have met at Yale, but there is nothing Ivy League about their music - it's smothered in bold R&B grooves with rich intoxicating vocals! I'm all about it! OPIA - FALLING (WHEATHIN REDO)

I spend all day on my computer chatting with all the managers, agents, artists and people in this industry making moves and creating the next generation of stars.  It's actually pretty thrilling to be a part of it all, watching all of us youngsters shape the future of music. So when I get a message from one of my favorite manager of artists and label owner with a conversation that goes as follows - it makes my long days in front of a computer all worth it. He mentions two gentlemen who be both work with take care of Chicago producer Wheathin, and sends through this new remix of "Falling" by Opia.  Then he asks me if they have ever hit me up about Wheathin, and I reply that I know about this talented young legend, but that they have never actually hit me up, and he proceeded to call them idiots! Haha! He then tells me Wheathin is the future!  We're all friends so the name calling is totally acceptable, but I kind of think he has a point about this young producer just coming into the world.
