The Chicago-based producer has a knack for crafting jazzy, vibey tunes which pair classical stylings with modern production sensibilities. His latest number “Papercut” features previous collaborator Cehryl, who also lent her smooth vocals to “If It Makes You Happy” and arrives via uber-hip tastemaker label Majestic Casual Records. Perfect for a lazy afternoon relaxing in the shade, this jam is sure to please existing Eli Way fans and will also serve as a welcome introduction to new ears who haven’t yet discovered his talent.

JAMES CURD - GET LOW FT. LIKASTO (BLACK LOOPS REMIX)

Taylor FayComment

Greenskeepers’ legend and seasoned Classic Clan vet, James Curd brings the dirty Chicago House funk in his recently released track “Get Low.” James Curd hit the scene when he was only fifteen, often sneaking into clubs and raves to DJ alongside some of the most respected electronic artists. He’s won the world over with his writing, producing, and ability to create unforgettable parties. Other artists have reworked this Black Loops mix, but this rendition is PURE MAGIC!  The track features vocals from another classic Chicago artist straight from Freak Mode, Likasto. Curd continues to bring G-swing to life with his unique sound and energy behind the decks. He's got all the bases covered, don't miss this one.

WIN AND WOO x BRYCE FOX - CHICAGO

Music, Original MixAlli LindseyComment

A collaboration to be remembered, Win and Woo teamed up with Bryce Fox to drop a beautifully nostalgic track- "Chicago." Named after Win and Woo's hometown, "Chicago" is a feel good track at its surface. But, once you delve deeper into its complexities, it's a story of pain and longing, encompassing the reality of being a human in a harsh, contemporary climate. This heavy-hearted single possesses lyrics that are healing in its dark relatability- a "cry-to" song, simultaneously adorned with a windows-down, highway-drive vibe. This compatible trio has crafted a melodic warmth that is both unnerving and comforting. Mixed to a T, neither the lyrics nor the production contradict the other. Win and Woo and Bryce Fox have absolutely executed this track, capitalizing on an already popular sound, while remaining true to their personal aesthetic. Listen to this ardent track on Spotify now.

MIELO - ALL WE'VE LOST (FEAT. DANÉL)

MusicMike DooseComment

With summer right around the corner, I've been seeing a steady stream of upbeat releases. One of my most recent obsessions is Mielo's brand new original, "All We've Lost" featuring singer Danél. Hailing from my hometown of Chicago, the electronic producer graces the indie-electronic music scene with yet another intoxicating piece that’s got me feeling all of the feels. The track tells an oh-too-familiar story of heartache and getting past the pain. The track builds gradually through electric synths, echoing beats and an uplifting melody. Finally Danél tops it off with silky vocals that blend perfectly with Mielo's production. Check it out and see why it's nearly impossible not to fall head over heels in love with "All We've Lost." And don't forget to check out Mielo's Buzzzmix from earlier this year!

STEPHEN - CROSSFIRE, PART III (FEAT. SABA, RAVYN LENAE, THE O'MY'S & J.P. FLOYD)

MusicMike DooseComment

Okay so Stephen is one of my all-time favorites. The LA-based artist has 100% blown me away with everything he’s done and to see him collaborating with a whole crew of artists from my home town of Chicago is so cool. Hell, I’ve fucked with Saba since way before his collabs with Chance back when my college’s student-run record label released a compilation featuring him on multiple tracks. If you know Chicago music, you know The O’My’s have been killing it around the Windy City for a hot minute, and while I’m unfamiliar with Ravyn Lenae and J.P. Floyd, they both bring something incredible to this collab, Lenae with her silky pipes and Floyd with the badass brass swagger. All in all, while turning a track into a trilogy could be seen by some as a lazy move creatively or that he’s “milking” the hit, I for one am not at all mad that Crossfire has turned into it’s own little movement. The song’s message, supported by the powerful track artwork, also speaks to the violence that’s continually prevalent in Chicago’s South and West Side neighborhoods and the difficulties local children face growing up there that much of us can’t even imagine. I’ve been told 15 percent of all earnings from this record are going to Young Chicago Authors, a creative after school program serving 10,000 youths per year. The only thing better than dope music is dope music with a meaningful message.
